Report on Irish Circular Bioeconomy Opportunities

I was pleased to be a member of the CIRCULÉIRE “Circular Bioeconomy 2020” Thematic Working Group, co-delivered in partnership with the Irish Bioeconomy Foundation, with the aim of understanding the Irish circular bioeconomy opportunity landscape, and which has recently published its “Circular Bioeconomy 2020” comprehensive Synthesis Report.

The report provides a state-of-the-art review of the leading products, technologies and policy items that support the transition towards a circular bioeconomy. It builds on the insights from a wide range of stakeholders from across the Irish innovation ecosystem ranging from industry, government agencies, academia and third sector, all  who participated in this thematic working group (TWG) over the summer and autumn of 2020. The TWG members also provided suggestions, via three ideation sessions, to develop new project ideas to exploit various residual biomass feedstock that is abundantly available in Ireland for the production of high-value bio-based products and bioenergy.
